Sugar Cookies using Lard


  • 4 oz SCP Lard
  • 4 oz butter
  • 10 oz granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 oz milk
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract 
  • 12 oz all purpose-flour
  • 8 oz cake flour 
  • 1 tbsp baking powder 


Cream together the sugar, pinch of salt, butter and lard until fluffy (about 5 minutes). 

Add the liquid ingredients and beat together for a few minutes more until well combined, occasionally scraping a rubber spatula down the sides of the bowl. 

Add the flour and baking powder a little at a time until fully combined. Wrap dough in a plastic and let it rest in the fridge for at least 1 hour. 

When you are ready to bake, roll our the dough to about 1/8-1/4 inch thick. Cut your cookies into your favorite shapes, and transfer cutouts onto a baking sheet.
